Questionnaire

For most villages, a pub is a vital service; it is a meeting place, a communication centre and an important lynchpin of village life.  Loudwater has lost all of this.  Much of the appeal of our village rests on its sense of community.  It is the reason many people moved here and remain here.  The presence of a pub would, we feel, greatly enhance that community spirit.

This questionnaire is the first step.  We need to know your views on what might be provided and what would receive your support.  Please be as honest and realistic as possible in your answers!  Your response will be treated in confidence and may be anonymous if you wish.

The results of this survey will be published and presented to a future public meeting when the proposal can be discussed further.

We would also like to hear from you if you feel that you could help in any way with the running of the pub.  There will be a wide range of tasks to be done from the initial setting up of the project, to managing the enterprise and being involved in the day to day practical operation.

This kind of venture has been successfully achieved in other local communities.  Will our community be the next one?

If The Derehams Inn was reopened by the community, would you, or any member of your household, use it?
What additional services would you most like to see the pub offer?
What kind of catering would you like to see from the pub?
On a scale of 1-5 (where 1 is not important and 5 is very important), how important do you think it is to have a local pub in Loudwater?

Please state how many people in each age range there are in your household

If the pub is successfully acquired as a community pub, would you be supportive of extending and improving the facilities and accommodation?
Would you or anyone in your household be interested in helping a co-operative pub project in any way: tick as many as apply

If you have indicated an interest in buying a share, we may contact you, to discuss this further.

*We envisage following a model successfully employed by other community pubs, endorsed by the Plunkett Foundation, whereby we form a Community Benefits Society and invite community investors.  We will make shares available from a starting point of £50.  Government funding is available to match any share funding raised up to a value of £250,000.  No money would be taken until the project has been validated and legally secured.  Should the project not go ahead any investments would be returned.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO COMPLETE THIS QUESTIONNAIRE
